  1. What is a Live Webcast?
A Live Webcast is a controlled-access video broadcast that is accessible through the Web. Think of the IMS Live Webcast as a meeting room designed for educational event. The podium, or front of the room is the location where we are broadcasting video of you and controlling the interaction with the participants or students. The participant seats are virtual; they can access your video stream and classroom from anywhere in the world. Participants have the ability to interact with the speaker through controlled Q&A and Polling features.

  2. Where can I present my Live Webcast?
Anywhere there is a high-speed internet connection available. Typically, standard DSL or Cable Modems offer adequate bandwidth to stream the video from your location to our broadcast servers. You can broadcast from hotels, convention centers, churches or your office just as long as you have an internet connection available!

  3. What equipment is needed at the Webcast broadcast site?
IMS provides a fully-equipped video streaming laptop or portal PC for the webcasting. We can also provide all the video cameras, mixing boards, lighting and mics that you need. If you have your own video equipment, we will take your output signal straight into our Live Webcasting equipment. If you are using us for video and Live Webcasting, there is no special equipment needed!

  4. How many participants can join my Live Webcast?
Hundreds! Thousands! Tens of Thousands! When you arrange your Live Webcast with IMS, we will work with you to estimate the number of seats needed for your program. If you estimate 10,000 people will logon to your event, we have the bandwidth available for this program.

  5. Is there a video stream delay and does it affect my program?
Normally, we see a 30 second to 2 minute delay in the video stream. The amount of delay depends on your geographic location and traffic on the internet. Unless you are offering your webcast in conjunction with a conference call or telephone based meeting, your attendees will never know. Slide transitions, quizzes and polls are all synchronized with the meeting video.

  10. What if there is a problem with the Internet connection during my Live Webcast?
IMS is the only Live Webcasting company around that will offer all of your Webcast attendees a free DVD of your presentation should the Webcast fail due to a problem with our servers or equipment. While this has never happened in all of the time we have been offering Webcasts, it is a comforting factor, especially if you are selling seats to your Webcast.

  11. What are the costs of Live Webcasting?
Pricing depends on your uses for our Live Webcast system. If you are offering Marketing information and giving away Live Webcasts to attendees, pricing is set as blocks of seats or subscription based that allow you a certain number of webcasts and concurrent users per event.

For events where you are charging, Webcasts can be a very profitable venture for you. Typically, we offer Live Webcasting (including many marketing services) on a share of revenue from actual sales for your event. This lowers your initial investment and gives you access to special pricing and marketing privileges reserved for IMS content partners.

  12. Can we offer a "replay" of our Live Webcast?
Yes, and we encourage this, especially for Education-based Marketing webcasts because it offers your sales prospects an additional opportunity to hear your presentation. "Re-broadcasts" can be scheduled and setup with limited seating to encourage advance registration, or you can utilize the on-demand version of your presentation.
